Meetings and Events 

  • Please remember that Yamaki members can always attend workshops as silent observers for free! Also, Mike Pollock’s studio is: Bonsai Shinsei and you’ll notice that he will be hosting many Yamaki’s meetings. Payments should be sent to Layne Rodney at 267 Loveland Road, Stamford, CT. 06905 - this is how you reserve your spot when RSVP’s are requested!

  • April, Sunday 23rd from 10:00 - 4:00 pm at the GEC. Our very own Pine Expert Mr. Bernie Gastrich will be doing a pine lecture. For you folks who might not heard of Bernie you are in for a special day. He’s been turning out top quaility bonsai for years and is well know in the Bonsai community. It’s going to being extremely informative day. So bring your questions, 1 - 2 pine trees, lunch and bonsai passion.

  • May, Sunday 7th from 10:00 - 4:00 pm at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center. Tyler Sherrod will be back for a hands on workshop. Please bring 2-3 trees just in case time permits. The ideas to get some consistency with the same artist and you tree. Don’t forget to bring tools, wire and a lunch. Tyler’s website:

  • May, 20th and 21st Yama Ki will be exhibiting at the Stamford Nature Museum.  The exhibit will be different this year,  We will be outside under a tent in the meadow. Layne is  looking for people to exhibit trees and some volunteers.  Set-up will be Saturday morning at 9:00 and the show ends Sunday at 3:00.  Let him know if you have some trees to exhibit and if you want to volunteer.

  • June, Sunday 18th from 10:00 - 4:00 pm at the GEC. Todd Schlafer will be our guest artist and we’ll do more workshop fun! Bring trees, tools, wire and lunch. Tyler’s website:

  • July, Saturday 15th from 10:00 - 4:00 pm at the GEC. Yamaki’s Party, Elections, and Auction - who’s feeling that they can make Yamaki even better please look to help out by taking on a role with the Board.
